Testimonials
"I generally like my sci-fi serious and deep. This collection of short stories is more like a British TV comedy series, which I seldom watch. In print however, I found the humor almost perfect. I loved the characters, Alf and Bert, and the mysterious Cloud brothers. And all the sci-fi/fantasy concepts are covered: quantum theory and multiple universes, time travel and the grandfather paradox, teleportation, telepathy, recursion, proof of the existence of God, ghosts, witches, robots, aliens, and artificial intelligence. Not only is the tone and style of these stories excellent, many of the sentences were memorable. A description of an old witch: “Her scrawny neck was thin as a drainpipe packed inside a crumpled sock.” It was a dark and stormy night: “Thunder chased all other sounds into hiding.” I was impressed, and will check out this author for his other works."

"James Fields, THANK YOU for taking up writing, and I only wish you had taken it up when you were much younger, because then we would have that many more books of yours to look forward to. I don't have much to add to the other excellent reviews, other than that I am a very choosy reader of science fiction. I have little patience for books that purport to be science fiction, but are really just fantasy novels. Also, I like good storytelling. It seems to be a gift that many authors think they have, but really don't have at all, and in this regard, James Fields excels at writing a romping, crashing, and even funny adventure. There are a few bits of "deux ex machina" such as the entity Aidme, but even in that case, Aidme is not all-powerful, and Trevor, the pilot of the good ship Cloud, gets quite frustrated with the thing more than once."

"The Bell Tower Suite was very well written. It was a masterful Paranormal story that sent chills up my spine. The Cloud Brothers was even better. What a wonderful si-fi story. It was believable and held my attention until the very end. I Highly recommend this book. "

About me
I was born in Essex, England, in 1951. My early days of work as an engineer led me to Norway where I fell in love, both with the country and a beautiful young local girl. I enticed her to England where we married and raised our two daughters. We moved back to Norway's inspiring Arctic region in 1985.
I’m no ordinary man: I have a playfully creative imagination that runs at epic levels. This doesn’t impress my long-suffering wife of almost fifty years. She grumbles at my unsociable habit of writing for all hours. Fortunately, she can’t resist my other charms; what they are, I leave to your imagination. |
